Most Malaysians will remember a particular blogger’s bold effort to stress the fact that Malaysia is indeed a country in distress by flying the national flag upside down. That move did not go down to well with the BN government, obviously, and he has endured much criticism at the hands of these uncouth politicians. Syed Azidi Syed Aziz or better known as Sheih Kickdefella is the latest in the growing list of high profile arrests by the corrupt BN government, although he isn’t detained under the ISA. The Sedition Act was used instead.
Apart from being a reputable blogger, Syed Azidi is an aide to YB Datuk Husam Musa in Kota Baru, Kelantan. He was detained by a police team from Bukit Aman at his house in Kampung Demit near Kubang Kerian at about 5.00pm today according to NST online. He was supposedly arrested for inciting the public to fly the national flag upside down via his blog.
This latest arrest has further ignited the public furore against the ailing BN government; a move seen as an act of desperation by many. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi seems to be digging his own grave with each passing day.
Sheih Kickdefella is also well endeared by the great majority of Malaysian bloggers who share similar ideals. Among other noteworthy contributions, he was instrumental in coming up with the “Bloggers United” logo that you see on many local blogs including mine.
These arrests may be BN’s way of threatening the questioning voices of Malaysians into submission. Little do they know that such tactics have gone stale. We are called “Bloggers United” for a reason. The government will undoubtedly have lost even more ground with these rash acts of terrorism. Every thing BN does smells of desperation and arrogance. Let it be known that Mahathirism isn’t the order of the day anymore. The latest crackdown on bloggers and other dissenting voices will not have anyone shaking in their boots, let alone these brave bloggers. BN should seriously prepare for a massive blogger backlash! Their days are numbered, and no one knows more so than BN themselves…
